Ingest is a critical part of any post workflow, and Cubix delivers unparalleled flexibility. Once physical media is logged (e.g. camera cards, transport drives), batches are indexed in place. Cubix automatically identifies the camera format and structure, grouping files into logical “rolls” ready for processing.Operators can use the Roll Review interface to approve and assign workflows such as:
• Copy & Review (transfer and prep only)
• Copy, Correct & Transcode (including fixing AMA relinking issues)
• Correct & Transcode (for nearline content)
• Exclude (skip roll)
Cubix also handles complex wrangling and correction tasks-such as repairing timecode-less GoPro footage-by rewrapping and reconstructing metadata to ensure AMA compatibility.
The native Cubix transcoder supports key post-production codecs, including DNxHD, DNxHR, XDCAM, and H.264, along with the generation of AAFs, PMRs, and full AMA support. Its unique ‘Harness’ approach allows existing edit workstations to be used for transcoding, making it easy to maximise idle hardware during off-hours.
For facilities already using Telestream ContentAgent or Vantage, Cubix offers seamless API integration-allowing for a phased transition or hybrid deployment without disrupting existing investments.
Archiving is equally streamlined. Cubix integrates with popular HSM solutions (XenData, StorageDNA, DIVA) and major cloud providers to archive both source footage and generated proxies. Business rules can automate when and where content is archived, whether that’s AWS Deep Glacier, Azure Archive, or an LTO volume per project or client.
Project metrics-duration, storage usage, codec breakdowns-are automatically tracked in real-time. Reports can be generated in Excel or PDF, and shared directly with scheduling and resource platforms like CETA and farmerswife. Rate cards and thresholds can be configured to automate usage alerts, ensuring no nasty surprises when storage limits are exceeded or unexpected formats are ingested.
